Description

Having been present at all six lunar landings in history, the legendary OMEGA Speedmaster is a true icon of space exploration and OMEGA’s pioneering spirit.

In this 44.25 mm model, the Speedmaster’s history aboard the Apollo 8 mission is celebrated through the darkened movement, featuring laser ablation on the mainplate and bridges to represent the surface of the Moon. The near side can be admired through the skeletonised black anodised aluminium dial, while the far side is visible through the caseback.

Presented with a perforated black rubber strap with yellow rubber on the underside, the watch is crafted entirely in black ceramic and features a yellow varnished central chronograph seconds hand and a laser-engraved tachymeter scale on the bezel, filled with white enamel. The small seconds subdial also features a Grade 5 titanium hand shaped like a Saturn V rocket. This 3D shape is achieved through laser turning, while the colours are created using white varnish, laser ablation, and darkening.

DARK SIDE OF THE MOON APOLLO 8

OMEGA travelled around the Moon to capture the stunning view of this Speedmaster watch. Having been present at all six lunar landings in history, this legendary model is a true icon of space exploration and OMEGA’s pioneering spirit.

A TRIBUTE TO THE MISSION

In 1968, the Apollo 8 crew became the first humans to see the far side of the Moon. In tribute, OMEGA created this bold ceramic chronograph with a skeletonised dial, a Saturn V rocket hand, and a decorated movement representing the lunar surface.
